PJ's Tigers 19 Varsity Club Bulldawgs 1 PJ's Tigers defeated Varsity Club Bulldawgs 19-1, in game 2, of a must win game for the Tigers, at Zirkel Field. It was a must win game for the Tigers because unknown to anyone outside of the Tigers, a heated argument between player and manager happened just moments before game 1 and it had a very negative effect on team moral heading into the first game. And it showed as the Tigers were flat in a 5-2 loss to the bull dawgs. But instead of turning against each other in game 2, they rallied together, and collected 18 hits and scored 19 runs in the Victory. Leading the hit parade was Jason Maaske, who was 5 for 5, with a double & 3 runs scored. Andy Monigal, who was 4 for 5 with 4 Runs scored, Scott Rappl, who was 3 for 4 with 3 RBI & 3 Runs scored, Eric Cluppert, who was 2 for 3, with 2 walks, 4 RBI & 4 Runs scored, Cory McEwen, who was 2 for 4 with 3 RBI and a double & 2 runs scored. Matt Duranso, who was 2 for 4, with a couple of runs & 2 RBI, Kevin Tapper, who was 2 for 4, with a couple runs and 2 RBI, & game one pitcher, Kyle Knaust (who would have given up only one run in game one with a better catcher behind the plate) chipped in with a 2 for 4 day, which included a couple runs & 2 RBI. But the performance that might have been forgotten in the offensive hit parade, was the performance on the mound of Richard (Ricky) Pease. Ricky turned in 5 solid innings and only allowed one run to score. The Victory gave Pease a 1-0 record on the year. With the win, the Tigers record improved their record to 4-2 overall heading into next weeks game against the expansion team the St. Francis A's. Varsity Club Bulldawgs 5 PJ's Tigers 2 B. J. Clement went the distance pitching for the Bull Dawgs working all 7 innings getting a complete game victory. This was the Bull Dawgs 1st victory of the season. Leading the way hitting was Mike Beringer who was 2 for 3 with 2 RBI & a stolen base & Steve Budny went 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored. For PJ's Tigers Andy Monigal was 2 for 4 with 3 stolen bases & 2 runs scored. Cory McEwen was 1 for 4 with 1 double & 1 RBI. For PJ's Kyle Knaust took the tough loss pitching a complete game only giving up 2 earned runs & 3 unearned runs. Jimmy B's 8 Town & Country Braves 4 Braves jumped out to an early lead with their first 3 batters scoring on 4 consecutive hits. Jimmy B's pitcher, Alex Arcano, would settle down and allow only 4 hits the rest of the game. Jimmy B's had a consistant offense scoring runs in 4 of the 6 innings they would bat.
